The limousine business is always coming up with new models of limos for companies to add to their fleets. Many of the cars that prove to be popular in the vehicle market are selected to be “stretched” and turned into limousines based on the popular styles. Some of the most common examples of these are the Hummer limo, the Cadillac Escalade limo, and the Lincoln Towncar limo.
So how does the limousine business create a stretch limo from a regular, run of the mill vehicle?
First, they purchase a basic vehicle of the model they desire from the manufacturer of the vehicle. Once the vehicle has been delivered, the vehicle is stripped down to the bare minimums to prepare the vehicle for the stretching process.
After everything has been removed from the vehicle, the body of the vehicle is cut in half and lengthened using steel supports and a carbon fiber overlay that is painted to match the appearance of the original vehicle. The new stretched interior of the vehicle is outfitted in the manner that the limousine business desires, which may include fiber optic lighting, wooden cabinetry, luxury carpeting, state of the art audio/visual systems, or a themed design scheme.
